MeritCard has two unique programs available when it comes to accepting checks at the point of sale. The first is a traditional check verification or warranty program that allows you to protect your company from “bad checks” using one of our Partner relationships. The other program is an Electronic Check Conversion (ECC) option that allows you to accept checks in the same manner you would a credit card transaction. 

Check Verification

Gives you the confidence to accept checks while reducing bank fees and processing costs. With Check Verification the check is screened against hundreds of thousands of businesses and financial institutions to verify the check is good. Hand the check back to the customer and provide them with the peace of mind that their personal information is secure.  

Check Warranty

This program also provides the protection and security of accepting checks with the added feature of eliminating your returned check liability. Our program incorporates authorization, settlement and collections, if necessary. 

Electronic Check Conversion

A simple image reader is attached to your existing credit card terminal and the check is passed through the reader providing you with an immediate approval.   The check is then stamped and returned to the customer and the funds are available in your account within 72 hours.   Accept more checks with minimal risk.
